Hello,

We hope you’ve had a good week. In case you need them, here are the 10 Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes. Seems like a good weekend for cookies.

If you sometimes tend to be a little hard on yourself (we’re right there with you!), give this self-compassion exercise a try. And, also, check out these socks with mantras… something to help you get through this August to Thanksgiving stretch.

Cas Holman designs for play and has an episode on Netflix’s Abstract: The Art of Design. Cas says of designing for children, “My work as a designer is to give them these tools so that they are free to imagine, explore ideas and invent new things.” You can read more about Cas’ work here.

Christine is working with a preK teacher to explore Floorbooks for documenting, planning and reflecting on what’s happening in the classroom. Here’s an overview of the practice from Kate Kiernan. More on that soon.

Harvard’s Jack Shonkoff released a brief this week on toxic stress and the impacts of family separation and child detention. An important, informative piece.

We’ve been reading Maria Popova’s newsletter Brain Pickings for years. She just celebrated her 13th anniversary of writing the blog. Read her 13 life-learnings from 13 years and then subscribe. Maria writes, “Who are the people, ideas, and books that magnify your spirit? Find them, hold on to them, and visit them often.”

Sending you this energy for Halloween Week.

Warmly,

Christine & Kristi
